Get Your Stinky Tofu Groove On...At Lin's Taiwanese Gourmet in Elmhurst!

Fermented/stinky tofu is a delicacy that is popular in Taiwan but a little harder in the NYC area.  A number of Taiwanese restaurants in Queens serves them, including Lin's Taiwanese Gourmet in Elmhurst.   I went with a group for a quick weekend lunch and tried a number of their delicious dishes.

Here's what many people order, their stinky tofu.  It's fried and while it does have a slightly funky aroma, it's quite mild and tastes great.  It's topped with a chili sauce with pickled veggies.  If you like kimchee you will probably enjoy this dish a lot...I sure did!

The next standout dish is this fried intestine dish.  Probably one of the most unique preparations of pork intestine I've had....so crispy the outside reminds me almost like a roast duck skin (it almost looks like roast duck as well).  Just awesome.

Gotta have some greens after a few rich dishes right?  These are simply stir fried but great.

Lastly, another unique dish is the casserole chicken with ginger and sesame oil.  Pretty unique dish...and though the chicken pieces were small, the dish itself was very flavorful and rich.

So there ya go, if you are in Queens and stop by Lin's, make sure you order their stinky tofu and fried intestines dish...so good.  Typing this entry makes me want to go again!

  2. Yup, it's one of the more popular items on the menu. It's only mildy stinky though, not super stinky, if that's how he likes his tofu!
